Final images are edited and retouched, high resolution, print-ready .jpeg digital files.

You will have the option of having Carly select your final images for you, or of selecting your favorite final images from proofs!

For the full session, locations must be within a 20-minute driving distance.

Sunrise or Sunset

I schedule sessions during “golden hour” for ideal natural light. This limits squinting and weird shadows, plus the sky and water look extra beautiful.

All of the work shown in my portfolio and blog was photographed during golden hour, and this is what I recommend to achieve this look.

Sunrise sessions begin 10 minutes before the predicted “sunrise time” for that day to give us prime lighting as soon as the sun appears. I recommend sunrise for the Half-Session, and for weather this is less windy.

Sunset sessions begin as close to sunset as possible, depending on the length of your session. For example, 30 minute sessions begin 30 minutes before the predicted “sunset time.” It can be more windy at sunset!

If you can’t decide whether you’d prefer sunrise or sunset, you can look at sample sessions on the galleries page. I try to specify the timing of each session in the tags and titles.

Process

During your session, I’ll provide a variety of poses and prompts to give you a blend of natural-looking portraits and fun, story-telling candids.

Booking & Planning

To reserve your session, a 25% retainer & signed contract will hold your date and time. I’ll help plan the location and timing of your session, and send a prep guide with outfit ideas and tips to help your session go smoothly. 

Your Session

3 weeks after I receive your selected favorites, I’ll email your final gallery of your favorite images, all edited, retouched, and ready to download, share and print! The online gallery will be available for downloading your images for 3 months. A print and share release will be included as well.

Proofing

3 business days after your session, I’ll email a link to an online gallery of proofs so you can select your favorite images to keep for your final gallery. If desired, you can purchase extra images at $5/image.

Delivery

  • I’ll send you a “prep guide” with general tips to help you know what to expect. We can set up a planning phone call, or finalize plans for your session via email. If your session will have multiple locations, I’ll make a mini timeline to help us make the most of your time and natural light.

  • Basic retouching is included (subtle teeth whitening, skin smoothing, blemish removal, fly-away clean up, and background distraction removal). More extensive retouching such as sunburns, tan lines, fake tan correction, wrinkled clothing, etc. may require an additional fee or a longer turnaround time. Manipulation of body shapes is not offered.

  • Yes, of course, to both of these! For many sessions, I fully provide posing guidance. I’ll guide you through a variety of more “formal” poses, mixed with prompts that add movement and a candid feel. If you have a certain vision in mind, I love when clients send over inspiration photos or Pinterest boards so I have a clear understanding of their vision and style! I just ask that you send these to me before the day of your session so I can be sure to plan the best spots to take them in!

  • Simply email me your session choice, preferred date, and choice of sunrise or sunset. Once I confirm availability, I will send you a contract and invoice. Then, we will get started on planning all the details!

  • Your retainer will be refunded if inclement weather cancels your session, or it can be transferred to hold a new date.
