Final images are edited and retouched, high resolution, print-ready digital files. You have the option of selecting your favorite images from proofs to have as your finals, or I’m happy to curate some or all of your finals for you!

Additional final images are available for $5/image.

Sunrise or Sunset

I schedule sessions during “golden hour” for ideal natural light. This limits squinting and weird shadows, plus the sky and water look extra beautiful.

Most of my work shown on this website was photographed during golden hour, and this is what I recommend to achieve a consistent look.

Sunrise sessions begin about 10 minutes before the predicted “sunrise time” for that day to give us prime lighting as soon as the sun appears. The weather is usually less windy at sunrise.

Sunset sessions begin as close to sunset as possible, depending on the length of your session (30 minute sessions begin about 30 minutes before the predicted “sunset time”). It can be more windy at sunset!

If you can’t decide whether you’d prefer sunrise or sunset, you can look at sample sessions on the galleries page. I try to specify the timing of each session in the tags and titles.

Process

During your session, I’ll provide a variety of poses and prompts to give you a blend of natural-looking portraits and fun, story-telling candids.

To reserve your session, a 25% retainer & signed contract will hold your date and time. I’ll help plan the location and timing of your session, and send a prep guide with outfit ideas and tips to help your session go smoothly. 

2. Your Session
1. Booking & Planning

3 weeks after I receive your selected favorites, I’ll email your final gallery of your favorite images, fully edited, retouched, and all available in both color and B&W. The online gallery will be available for downloading your images for 3 months. A print and share release is included as well.

3. Proofing

Within 3 business days of your session, I’ll email a link to an online gallery of proofs so you can select your favorite images to keep for your final gallery. If desired, additional final images can be purchased for $5/image.

4. Delivery

  • I’ll send you a “prep guide” with general tips to help you know what to expect. We can set up a planning phone call, or finalize plans for your session via email or text. If your session will have multiple locations, I’ll make a mini timeline to help us make the most of your time and natural light.

  • Standard retouching includes subtle teeth whitening, skin smoothing, fly-away clean up, and background distraction removal. More extensive retouching, such as sunburns, tan lines, fake tan correction, etc. may require an additional fee or a extended turnaround time. Manipulation of body shapes is not offered.

  • Yes, of course, to both!

    If you have a vision in mind, it helps if you can send over inspo photos or your Pinterest board before you book so I can make the best location/lighting/timing recommendations based on your inspo. There isn’t a deadline though- I love collaborating during planning and during each session, and so many of my all-time favorite photos have been the result of working with clients to make their vision a reality!

    If you have no idea how to pose or what types of poses you like, I’ll gladly provide full posing guidance. I’ll guide you through a variety of more “formal” poses, mixed with prompts that add movement and a candid feel.

  • If we’re unable to find a mutually available time to reschedule your session, your retainer will be refunded.

  • You can reach out via the Contact form. Just let me know which session length you’d like (Half/Full/Extended), preferred date, and preference of sunrise or sunset (if you have one).

    Once we confirm a date and time, a signed contract & retainer of 25% of your total will book your session.

  • It does not. Pricing is based on the session length and number of final images that are included.

    For groups of 3-6 people, the Half Session (30 minutes) is usually perfect for fitting in a good variety without exhausting any kids. For 6-12 people, I recommend the Full Session (60 minutes), and the Extended Session for 12-30 people.
